No dig diary, 25th July 2026
I spent some time today potting pepper plants up into ten litre (roughly) pots. I say “pots”; actually they are twenty litre dairy hypochlorite jugs that I cut in half and drilled drainage holes in. I’m running low on bought … Continue reading
Spotted in the polytunnel
First one of the year, almost ready. Yes, it is a bit small, but the plant actually fruited before I’d even got them planted out.

Again it was far too hot to achieve much today, but I did manage to pot up a few more peppers. Once temperatures had dropped a fair bit in the evening, I thought I’d have a poke about in Frankenstein’s … Continue reading

Too hot to be outside most of the day, at least for me. I don’t enjoy excessive heat to start with and I don’t think the BP drugs are helping me to cope. Eventually however I managed to find somewhere … Continue reading

Another showery day meant that working outdoors wasn’t likely to be fun for long, so I did some watering and planted some peppers and tomatoes in the polycrub. Since I had my “pepper head” on, I then found some four … Continue reading

No dig diary, 4th June 2026
At last the polytunnel is planted up with almost all of the crops I want in it this year, having been delayed by the cold and my blood pressure issues. All the tomatoes and peppers are in, just have cucumbers … Continue reading

I’m quite amazed about this. The sweet peppers and chiles that I sowed under grow lights back in mid-January are starting to produce fruit already! I’ve not even got them into their final pots or into the ground yet!

My height extension for the propagator is now complete! Hopefully this will allow the peppers to continue growing under the grow light until they’re big enough to be elsewhere.
