Today I removed all the mesh bags that I’d put over sweet pepper and chile plants in the hope of being able to save seeds from the plants this year. In order that I can remember which fruit should have … Continue reading

Another day of harvesting today. More peppers. I think that deep red one just looks so appealing. Eight cucumbers including one weirdly wonky one. And an enormous cabbage. One thing I didn’t harvest however is this tomato. That’ll be a … Continue reading

I didn’t really do much work other than tidying up and a little harvesting today. Peppers are starting to ripen in the polytunnel. And there are plenty of large tomatoes that should be on their way soon. I even found … Continue reading

No dig diary, 6th August 2026

I started (attempting) to save seeds from my pepper plants today. I’ve not had much success using bits of stocking to isolate the flowers and prevent cross-pollination, so I ordered some drawstring mesh bags to try instead. Once I’d identified … Continue reading

How many?!

I noticed this plant whilst watering in the polytunnel this evening. From memory I think (I’m fairly sure) it’s a chocolate sweet pepper. I counted nine large fruit on it. I think this one might be one to save some … Continue reading
