No dig diary, 9th September 2026

Today I removed all the mesh bags that I’d put over sweet pepper and chile plants in the hope of being able to save seeds from the plants this year. In order that I can remember which fruit should have seeds that will come true, I added loose tie-wraps around the stalks of the peppers.

Whilst doing that I discovered that I have been the victim of a “dine and dash”.

Mostly they’re biqhinos, with a few KS lingria too. The thief hasn’t touched any of the hotter varieties.

I’ll have another go with the mesh bags later this week and be careful to select flowers that are on the point of opening so the fruit have the best chance of ripening fully.
