My Dog Vomit slime mould is bleeding!
Sort of 😀 Looks like it is, though clearly that can’t be the case. I can’t find any information on what the liquid is though.
It’s called what?!
This appeared in the polytunnel today. I’m not certain, but I think it’s a slime mould that’s commonly known as “Dog Vomit Fungus”, despite looking an awful lot like scrambled egg. I’m not sure if this is the same thing … Continue reading
No dig diary, 21st June 2026
The most important thing to do today was to dig up the first of this year’s crop of potatoes to have with dinner. I went to one of the plants at the end of the bed, pulled all the haulms … Continue reading

The most important goal of the day today was to get the garlic lifted. It’s been a very humid day and there wasn’t much pleasure in being in the polytunnel, but eventually I got all the plants into a wheelbarrow … Continue reading

A caterpillar I think I can identify
This turned up whilst I was weeding my carrot patch today. I think it’s a Speckled Wood caterpillar. Probably not the same as the green one I found back in May because that was very much more vibrant in colour. … Continue reading
Yet more mushrooms
This time in the polycrub. They’re coming up all over the place!
Weird fungus-type “thing”
No idea what this is that has appeared in the polytunnel over the last couple of days. It has a powdery white exterior and underneath appears brown.

Got through a fair bit of planting out today — half a dozen different types of lettuce, and two types of beetroot and leeks. The lettuces are next to my (podding) peas and whilst working there I noticed that peas … Continue reading

More weeding again today. I was hoping to get stuff planted out too, but… life. Nevertheless, the current compost heap became larger by five heavily loaded wheelbarrows of weeds, mostly nettles and cleavers. I kind of like weeding cleavers. You … Continue reading
Not mushroom for more…
Found whilst I was weeding out some creeping thistle this afternoon. No sign of mushrooms in my logs as yet, but at least I know I can grow them somewhere 😀 No idea what variety they might be.
