Today was onion harvesting day. Pretty much all of the onion leaves had fallen over though that may have been due to the drought, but in fact most of the bulbs were a decent size too.
Red ones first.

I put them on a piece of mesh over one of the compost bays to cure. I need more space, but I’ll sort that out later.

Then the yellow/brown ones, which ever description you prefer.

I was very pleased with these two — the largest of each variety.


Not so pleasing was the state of my climbing beans. It’s not easy to tell from this photo, but the deer have eaten off most of the leaves up to about a metre high. Not happy.

Also not happy is this elder tree in the hedge along one side of the veggie plot. Looks like it is showing serious signs of water stress now.
