Darkstar restoration, part 4

Having found a 65mm hole saw, I screwed a block of scrap timber to the inside of the OTA using the existing mounting holes having marked the centre as best I could.

and cut a larger diameter hole for the new focuser.

I didn’t quite get it perfectly centred on the old hole, but that shouldn’t make any difference.

    Hi James,

    I have the same Dark Star scope as you. A 2″ focuser is my next mod, then secondary mirror. Following your articles with interest.

      Progress has sadly stalled since Covid-19 hit with other things taking priority, but as of tomorrow I find myself without work and will therefore try to make some progress with this project whilst I have time available.
