Swimming, 10th May 2019

I’m getting a touch bored of this now 🙂

  • 400m f/c warm-up
  • 24 x 50m f/c, target time 50s, turnaround 70s
  • 200m swim down

It was a lovely quiet time for a swim today though. Only one other person was in the pool when I arrived and they left almost before I’d finished warming up. After that I had the pool to myself.

Anyhow, I had a better performance today. First fail on rep eleven, then on rep nineteen and finally on rep twenty-two, but at that point I thought I might as well finish the set off anyhow. As I’ve noted before, it’s not exactly tiredness that’s the problem. It’s more the shortened recovery time. After skipping a rep to recover it’s not hard to beat the target time by as much as two seconds. So whilst I am able to do that it seems to make sense to keep reinforcing how to swim that fast.

After finishing I did some tumble turn practice at the shallow end and managed to avoid hitting the bottom on all but one 🙂

USRPT distance this year: 115,300m
Total distance this year: 117,950m
