Swimming, 9th November 2017

I was delayed getting into the pool today because I bumped into one of my swimmers and her mum in the reception area and had a chat with them first. Once I’d made it into the water I thought I’d experiment with an idea I read from a US coach about body rotation in front crawl. His idea was that as the hand drives straight back the swimmer should think of moving the hip out of the path of the hand as it travels to mid-thigh. I found it works really well as a mental model of what should be happening and kept working on it for the entire session of 8 x 250m, 3 x 100m and 2 x 50m.

Total distance for the month: 16,000m
Total distance for this year: 476,200m
Distance compared to annual target: 45,500m ahead
